Why haven’t we found life elsewhere in the universe? This is the question of the Fermi Paradox. The phenomenon supposedly earned its name when it led famous physicist Enrico Fermi to exclaim, “Where is everybody?” There are many potential solutions to the Fermi Paradox, and a popular one happens to come from Star Trek! In the fictional Star Trek universe, the characters cannot make contact with any alien civilization that has not crossed a certain technological threshold.
