Why are the Orionids known to be one of the most beautiful meteor showers? These showers peak with 10-20 meteors per hour, which can leave trails across the sky that last for minutes! A small number of these meteors will also be fireballs, or big and bright meteors. However, the waning gibbous Moon on October 20 and 21 may outshine these meteors, meaning it is especially important to head to a dark area away from city light pollution and give your eyes 30 minutes to adjust to the dark for the best chance to see the Orionids!
