Did you know that native ladybug populations are declining? In this video, Maynard Okereke explains the different types of ladybugs, also called ladybirds and ladybeetles: they come in a variety of different colors, they can be plant-eating or predatory, and some are invasive, posing a threat to native species. We can all help native ladybug populations by planting native flowers, avoiding pesticides, and providing more natural shelters. We can also use citizen science apps to report ladybug sightings, allowing scientists to track their populations.
