What meteor shower is formed from the wake of Comet Tempel-Tuttle? The Leonids are famous because in 1966 they rained down at a rate of thousands of meteors every minute. This year, they will appear at a lower rate of 15 meteors per hour. There will also be the chance to spot fireballs, which are especially bright and colorful meteors! For the best chance to view the Leonids meteors and fireballs, find a dark place away from light pollution as a bright gibbous moon will make it more difficult to view the shower. Arrive after midnight, and be sure to give your eyes time to adjust to the dark!
