What is the last meteor shower of the year? The Ursids will appear in Northern Hemisphere skies overnight on December 21 to 22! Formed from Comet 8P/Tuttle, a Manhattan-sized comet, the Ursids are famous for producing rare meteor storms of 100 or more meteors per hour! This year, however, their expected rate is 5 to 10 meteors per hour, plus the occasional bright fireball. Since the night sky will be lit by the quarter moon, it’s especially important to find a dark place away from city lights for the best chance of viewing the Ursids!
