DIY Compost Container

Make your household more climate-friendly with a DIY compost container! In this video, Maynard Okereke shows us how to create and use a backyard composter. This eco-friendly science hack is easy to do: you just need a plastic bucket with a lid and holes drilled in the sides to bury in your backyard. By layering in green materials, like food scraps and food waste, and brown materials, like shredded paper and dead leaves, you provide food for worms and microbes to break down into nutrient rich soil. By composting, we can prevent food waste from ending up in landfills, where it releases methane gas into the atmosphere - a greenhouse gas that contributes to warming the Earth’s climates.
