Chang’e-6 Brings Back First Samples from the Far Side of the Moon

What can we find on the dark side of the Moon? China’s Chang’e-6 spacecraft recently returned to Earth with humanity’s very first sample from the Moon’s mysterious dark side. The far side of the Moon never faces towards Earth, and no humans have ever set foot on it, so we don’t know a lot about it. This exciting lunar sample is a first step towards unlocking the dark side of the Moon’s secrets! Once we know more about the far side of the moon, humans could land near its South Pole, which is thought to have water ice deposits in its dark shadows, making it an attractive target.
