Residents from Salem, MA get free Exhibit Halls admission throughout the month of September


BOSTON, MA — During the month of September, residents of Salem can become an arctic explorer, learn about vaccines and discover the changing habitats of New England’s animals, all free of charge, when the Museum of Science hosts September Salem Days. The unique program allows Salem residents to visit the Museum for free throughout September and is generously funded by the Norman H. Read Trust. 

The program includes free Exhibit Halls for all Salem families, individuals, and children. A limited number of free Planetarium and Omni Theater passes will also be available for free. To partake in the program, Salem residents can simply show a valid Massachusetts driver's license or identification card indicating Salem residency at the Museum box office to receive passes.

In addition to inviting Salem residents to Science Park, the Museum of Science will also be coming to the Salem Farmers’ Market on Thursday, September 15, where scientists of all ages can participate in fun drop-in activities and take home an Engineering is Elementary Try It! Kit, also courtesy of The Norman H. Read Trust. Try It! Kits contain all the materials necessary to facilitate your own STEM design challenges at home, with instructions in English and Spanish.

For Salem residents visiting the Museum, Exhibit Halls highlights throughout September include Engineering Design Workshop, Powered by MathWorks, Project Vaccine: Our Best Defense, Arctic Adventure: Exploring with Technology, and a new temporary exhibit Mental Health: Mind Matters. The Charles Hayden Planetarium will present several shows and films, including Undiscovered Worlds: The Search Beyond Our Sun, Explore the Universe, and Destination Mars: The New Frontier. The Mugar Omni Theater will show spectacular films in New England’s only dome IMAX theater, including Superpower Dogs, Ancient Caves, and Serengeti.

To participate in the program, Salem residences must show a valid Massachusetts driver's license or identification card indicating Salem residency at the Museum box office to receive passes.
