BOSTON, MA — The New England Museum Association (NEMA) announced today that the Museum of Science, Boston won Best in Show in the 2023 Publication Awards Competition for their Climate Change Poster Suite. The publication won First Place in the Posters category.

This competition recognizes excellence in design, production, programming, and effective communication in both print and digital publishing. The awards celebrate the often-unacknowledged outreach and communication work that museums do regularly through print and digital media publications.

Judges found the Best In Show, Climate Change Poster Suite, successfully delivered its message while playing with typography and color scheme to draw the eye. The Museum of Science was also recognized for their Mission/Vision/Values brochure, which won First Place in the Annual Fund, Capital Campaign and Other Development Materials category, and their Membership Acquisition Postcards Suite, which won First Place for Marketing and PR Materials.

Overall, the winning submissions from eleven categories impressed the judges with their sophisticated simplicity, vibrant colors, and clever design. This year the competition included 203 submissions from 60 museums. Publications spanned the years 2020 - 2023, since the awards program was paused during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Competition winners will be recognized and exhibited at the 103rd Annual NEMA conference in Portland, ME, November 8- 10, 2023.
