During the month of September, Salem, MA residents receive free admission to the Museum of Science, Boston. Check out our latest exhibits, watch one of our new Planetarium shows or Omni films, and discover science like never before.

How to Secure Your Tickets 
This offer is valid only for residents of Salem, Massachusetts during the month of September 2024 (excluding September 3) and while supplies last.

Visit the box office in the Museum lobby for free admission to our Exhibit Halls and either an Omni film or a Planetarium show.

Proof of Residency Required: Present proof of residency at the Museum box office, such as a valid driver’s license or photo ID card showing a Salem address.

Free Round-Trip Train Ride to the Museum on Select Saturdays

On Saturday, September 14 and Saturday, September 28 only, residents can enjoy free round-trip commuter rail train service from Salem to North Station.

Saturday, September 14 – Ride with the Mayor of Salem! The train will leave Salem at 9:41 am and arrive at North Station at 10:17 am. (Pick up your tickets from Museum of Science staff at the train station from 9:00 am until departure.) Return home to Salem on the train of your choice!

Saturday, September 28 – Ride with the Superintendent of Salem Public Schools! The train will leave Salem at 10:41 am and arrive at North Station at 11:18 am. (Pick up your tickets from Museum of Science staff at the train station from 10:00 am until departure.) Return home to Salem on the train of your choice!

Once you arrive at North Station, exit and follow Nashua Street to O'Brien Highway and turn right toward the Museum.

For a shorter walk, you can also take the Green Line from North Station to Science Park. After exiting the station, the Museum will be diagonally across the street (O'Brien Highway), just over the Charles River Dam drawbridge.

The Museum Garage is open 5:00 am - midnight, but can fill to capacity on busy days. Bring your ticket with you for payment at automated kiosks (debit and credit card only) inside.

Saturday, September 14 ONLY - Food vouchers available.

On Saturday, September 14, a limited number of food vouchers ($10) redeemable at the Museum’s Riverside Café will be available on a first-come, first served basis.
