Featured Presentations and Activations Unpacking the Principles of Peace 10:00 am – 4:00 pmBlue Wing The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and students at Emerson College co-designed the card game Unpacking the Principles of Peace. The activity cultivates cycles of peace through uplifting the Seven Principles of Peace: Love, Unity, Faith, Hope, Courage, Justice, and Forgiveness. Participants embark on a healing journey by matching and reflecting on community-created cards with the Principles of Peace, images of sand trays created for Peace Play in Urban settings, pictures of Boston locations, mindfulness activities, and questions and quotes for reflection. Hearing Screenings (adults and children ages 4 years+) 10:00 am – 4:00 pmSuit Cabot Lab, Red Wing Emerson College Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students and their clinical supervisors will be available to provide hearing screenings to children and adults visiting the Museum (adults and children ages 4 years and older). Hearing screenings provide the general public with information about their current hearing status (i.e., hearing is within functional limits or should be further evaluated) to prevent social, cognitive, speech, and language deficits that can arise from lack of access to auditory input. Zines 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Blue Wing Step into the vibrant world of zine publishing as students from Emerson College present their voices on what it means to be human. This immersive presentation explores issues of ethics, equity, connection, and well-being around the topics of Women’s Health, Mental Health, and Aging through zines — self-published works that amplify personal expression, activism, and storytelling. Promoting Healthy Communication and Swallowing 11:00 amGordon Current Science & Technology Center Stage Emerson College Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students will share campaigns to promote healthy communication and swallowing. Come learn about prevention of voice disorders, protection from noise-induced hearing loss, and early identification of childhood literacy, swallowing, and hearing difficulties. Short Film Festival 12:00 pmMugar Omni Theater Students present their short films around Being Human in the Mugar Omni Theater, followed by a panel discussion on the meaning and importance of storytelling in human connection. Free with Pre-Registration Innovation Tournaments 1:00 – 3:00 pmGordon Current Science & Technology Center Stage Students are asked to think creatively around innovative ideas to better the human condition. Watch as they present their ideas for impact in two topic areas: Autism at 1:00pm and Fashion at 2:00pm.
