The Climate Conundrum:

A Public Discussion on the Role of Carbon Dioxide Removal

Participate in this event, brought to you in part by the Museum’s Center for the Environment, and learn about emerging carbon dioxide removal technologies.

Human activities are causing the Earth’s climate to change rapidly. Heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide are building up in the atmosphere, causing average global temperatures to increase, contributing to catastrophic issues around the Earth. This event focuses on climate mitigation, or slowing down climate change, through Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technologies. As the science and engineering behind these technologies progress, the social and ethical questions that come along with it must be addressed with public input.

Join us to discuss two emerging carbon dioxide removal technologies: Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) and Direct Air Capture with Carbon Storage (DACCS).

Add your voice and apply today to participate in our interactive forum discussion. This all-day event (breakfast and lunch provided) is open to participants 18 years of age and older. Those who are selected and stay throughout the event will receive a $150 gift card.

We have limited capacity. Selected applicants will be confirmed via email on a rolling basis starting September 18.

This project is co-presented by the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes at Arizona State University (ASU), the University of Calgary (UC) and the Museum of Science, Boston (MOS), through generous funding provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Part of the Museum’s Year of the Earthshot, an exploration of the climate solutions and actions we can take now to live sustainably on Earth.
