Our Museum Exhibits team has thoroughly reviewed every exhibit component throughout the entire Museum to assess its safety and risk for transmission. As a result, some exhibits have been modified or closed for your safety. Please note that the Butterfly Garden has been temporarily converted to a Garden Walk & Insect Zoo.
The area where butterflies once roamed freely now highlights the diversity of plants that call the Museum home; many of which are nectar species for the butterflies in the different regions of the world, including right here in the Northeast. You can investigate a carnivorous plant display and check out some local pollinator plants to give you some great ideas for your own backyard. As always, the space highlights our other invertebrates: stick insects, beetles, true bugs, Katydids, other inverts (tarantulas, scorpions, and millipedes) and our ever popular leaf cutter ants. And you might occasionally see one of our animal ambassadors from the Live Animal Care Center!
Want a preview of what you’ll see in our Insect Zoo? Check out our Leaf Cutter Ants as they harvest leaves for their fungus garden!
