EiE Mutual Connections

The Museum of Science is looking for grades 1-5 teachers to help connect EiE units to mathematics and create thematic "Chaperone Guides" that connect Museum of Science exhibits to science and mathematics classroom topics.

On April 5, 2008, the Museum will be hosting our first Mutual Connections Workshop. Eligible participants are teachers in grades 1-5 and have taught either of the following Engineering is Elementary units:

  • Catching the Wind: Designing Windmills
  • The Best of Bugs: Designing Hand Pollinators

Participants Will Participants Will Receive
  • attend a workshop at the Museum of Science on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 9am-3pm in the Gordon Classroom.
    • Brainstorm mathematics connections for either "Catching the Wind" or "The Best of Bugs."
    • Help to develop "Chaperone Guides."
    • Lunch will be provided.
  • write up and test 2 EiE math connections in their classrooms.
  • an EiE Teacher Guide, paperback storybooks, or 2 hardcover storybooks.
  • the following stipend:
    • $100 for workshop participation
    • $50 for writing and testing 2 EiE mathematics connections in their classrooms
    • $25 for completing the program evaluation
  • a complimentary field trip to the Museum of Science for up to 25 students plus chaperones (Museum admission free, buses not included).
